Drug Rehab Clinic

Many people including celebrities go to Drug Rehab clinics to cleanse the body and mind. In some cases people go to these drastic measures to give up drugs for life.

Do you think that drug rehab is a better way to detox or is better to detox in the comfort of your own home?

It would be great to hear from people who have gone to rehab in the past or contemplating going to drug rehab.

Yes it is very important that addicts are in a stable but comfortable environment. Offering all annemities is imperative!

I do not belive that an addict should give themselves their own treatment in their own home!
Taking them away from the familiar surroundings will reduce the possible thoughts of relapse.

Going to rehab was the best thing I could ever have done. I tried many times to "do it on my own". It simply just does not work. You need to surround yourself with like-minded people, people who can support and help you, people who understand what you are going through. So if you truly want to change your life for the better, rehab is the way.

Detox is very often the first step to recovering from addiction. Many times we find that clients that go through a detox have a greater chance to "kick the habit".

For addictions to chemicals like heroin and highly addictive drugs, it is very important to be in supervised surroundings as somtimes medical intervention is neccessary or at least helps guarantee a successful detox. Doing it from home is rarely a good idea!

I tried to detox in my home, I liked the idea of being in a familiar and comfortable environment. But it was just too easy to lapse into old habits. It's very difficult to say no to "friends" who invite themselves 'round. They know you are home and knock on the door and then you're back to square one.

I finally got up the courage to check in at a place a little ways away from home, so my "friends" would not be as encouraged to drop by. I chose Princeton House Behavioral Health in Princeton NJ Their in-patient psychological treatment for alcoholism and drug addiction program was essential to me kicking. They had an approach which worked on several different levels and integrated several different disciplines. Sure, I did a fair amount of eye-rolling (don't we all?!!), but the overall outcome was great. I've been detoxed and clean for 8 months now. they also gave me the tools I needed to get through the inevitable difficulties of daily life and dealing with old "friends".

While an addict may have the best of intentions, going through detox at home is rarely successful.

Like 'anonymous' said it is easy to lapse into old habits when in familiar surroundings. Detox can be dangerous as well, causing a variety of health issues.

A rehab center can offer the help and support a recovering addict needs in order to be successful. Not to mention being able to offer medical supervision, should the need arise.
