Caffeine Detox Stories
Most of us love a cup of coffee and a can of coke every now and then.
Yet caffeine is a drug and falls into the category of an acceptable drug for consumption. Hence people seem to consume massive amount of coffee while they are working.
Do you think caffeine has a noticeable affect in health or is it completely harmless?
It would be great to read about peoples personal stories on caffeine detox and any associated withdrawal symptoms.

Hello. I am an ex heavy-coffee drinker. Since I quit drinking coffee my health improved and so did my skin condition.I quit drinking coffee about a year and a half ago after going for an allergy test confirming that I had developed an allergy to coffee. What prompt me to get the test was because I was experiencing an occasional migraine attack probably once or twice a month where I got so sick, throwing up and sometimes suffering a diarrhea. It usually starts off with my vision blurring and seeing stars.Needless to say, due to the dehydration, I used to suffer constipation. Sometimes for a one whole week!!I used to start off my morning with a cup of drip coffee, then at lunch time I had my favorite drink, dunkin donut ice latte 4 to 5 times a week , the medium size(500ml?I think they put about 2 shots of espresso), then sometimes after work occasionally I drank another cup of dunkin donut coffee. A year and a half ago I cold turkey quit coffee instead I started drinking tea. My migraine attack lessened to once every two months from every month. Then after 6 months I drank a decaf instant coffee offered by a friend and I thought,"Oh what the heck, it's only decaf."And I knew that instant coffee have lesser caffeine than that of a drip coffee. But I was wrong. About 30 minutes later, I was seeing stars and the migraine came back again.

Hello. I am 27, an ex heavy-coffee drinker. Since I quit drinking coffee a year and 8 months ago, my health improved and so did my skin condition.I quit drinking coffee after going for an allergy test confirming that I had developed an allergy to coffee. What prompt me to get the test was because I was experiencing an occasional migraine attack probably once or twice a month where I got so sick, throwing up and sometimes suffering a diarrhea. It usually starts off with my vision blurring and seeing stars.Due to the dehydration caffeine causes, I used to suffer constipation. About 30 minutes later, I was seeing stars and the migraine came back again. So I don't drink decaf instant coffee either anymore. But about 2 months ago, after more than a year off from caffeine I had another attack of horrible migraine. I came down to tea I drank in the morning and another one at my friend's place in the afternoon.Since then I stopped all together taking any form of caffeine including hot chocolate, coke, tea and coffee. I now drink Redbush tea or rooibos tea from South Africa and plenty of water.I take the tea bags with me wherever I go and if I go to a cafe, I order a hot water. I used to suffer terrible acne but now my skin has cleared and people notice the difference and say how lovely it looks. I am not constipated anymore I am very regular. Thanks to linseeds as well. I read somewhere that caffeine can stay as long as up to a year depending on how much you had. But I am quite determined not to re-introduce caffeine into my diet again. Just the thought of drinking coffee makes me feel nauseous!

Caffeine is often included in lists of addictive drugs, it's just that it is relatively safe and doesn't produce much of a withdrawal effect. I'd be plenty more worried about the widespread availability and acceptance of alcohol consumption. There's something that's definitely not harmless.

I've been going through detox for four weeks now, because of allergies (wheat, grains, dairy, soy products...& a few more). One of things I had to give up for the detox was caffeine. I also quit coffee cold turkey, and except for a mild headache the first day, I'm feeling great! It's amazing how much better I feel. There aren't any more energy dips during the day; my fatigue has pretty much vanished, and I don't miss the caffeine at all.
